Venue : Yoga4all Studios , Airside, Swords C0.Dublin

What is Aerial Yoga?

Aerial Yoga is a fusion technique, its a mix of not only traditional Yoga, but Yoga alongside elements of Pilates, Calisthenics, Aerial Arts and Sports Conditioning - all done with the use of an Aerial Yoga Hammock.

Is Antigravity® Yoga the Same as Aerial Yoga?

Antigravity® is a US-based company founded by Christopher Harrison, who is widely recognised as the creator of Aerial Yoga. Harrison pioneered the use of a specially designed fabric hammock, suspended from the ceiling and looped into a distinctive horseshoe shape. He also developed a structured movement system that includes not only Aerial Yoga, but a range of aerial-based disciplines such as Antigravity Suspension Fitness® and other conditioning and movement classes.

Originally, this method was referred to simply as Antigravity Yoga. As the practice evolved, Christopher Harrison formalised the system into distinct, trademarked programs, including Antigravity Aerial Yoga® and Antigravity Suspension Fitness®, each with its own training standards, sequencing principles, and certification requirements.

Antigravity® Yoga vs Aerial Yoga

Over the past 20 years, the popularity of aerial movement has grown worldwide. As a result, many teachers and studios have developed their own classes and training programmes using similar equipment, often marketed under broader terms such as Aerial Yoga, Aerial Sling, or Aerial Fitness.

While these practices may appear similar, only instructors who have completed official Antigravity® training are qualified to teach Antigravity® Yoga. Antigravity® is a registered brand and methodology, and the name represents a specific standard of training, safety, and quality.

In short:

All Antigravity® Yoga is Aerial Yoga

Not all Aerial Yoga is Antigravity® Yoga

Suzanne Kenny & Antigravity®

Suzanne Kenny trained directly with Antigravity® and Christopher Harrison in 2011 and opened Dublin’s first Aerial Yoga studio later that same year. She continues to reference her work as Antigravity Aerial Yoga® or Antigravity Suspension Fitness® where appropriate.

For clarity and accessibility, Suzanne often refers to her classes more generally as Aerial Yoga. Over the past 15 years, she has developed her own distinctive teaching style, class structures, and sequences. While her teaching is rooted in Antigravity® principles, it also includes original sequences and creative progressions developed through years of experience and practice.

Safety, Training & Equipment

Not all aerial yoga is the same. The quality of training, instruction, and equipment is essential for both safety and effectiveness. Students are encouraged to seek out instructors with recognised, reputable training and professionally rated equipment.

All hammocks used by Suzanne are sourced directly from Antigravity® and are safety-rated to support loads of up to 1,000 lbs, ensuring the highest standards of safety, durability, and performance.

How long is an Aerial Yoga/Fitness Class and what do i need to bring with me ?

A typical class is 60mins and you need to bring along a yoga mat and some water. Avoid wearing jewlery and clothing with zips and buttons. Also we would advise against eating a large meal before attending any class (Ideally leave 1-2hours)

Any contraindications for people to attend Aerial Yoga Classes?

Aerial Yoga is not suitable for anyone who has had recent neck, back or eye surgery, glaucoma, anyone who is pregnant, someone who suffers with vertigo, spinal issues or inner ear disorders.

What are the differences between Yoga4alls Aerial Yoga and Fridays Aerial Fitness classes?

Aerial Yoga will be still very yoga based - with many traditional yoga postures done using the aerial hammocks - We add some fun inversions, and strength work with the odd "trick or flip" thrown into the mix but variations and modifications are always given. Aerial Fitness on Fridays would be for those looking for more of a work out type class - More focus on core, arm and leg mobility and strength often using weights, with less of a focus on tricks or flips.

Who will be teaching the Aerial Yoga Classes?

All classes at Yoga4all are taught by the owner of Yoga4all - Suzanne Kenny. Suzanne has been teaching for the last 20years. Originally doing her 500hour, 2 year, Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2004 with Yoga Therapy Ireland, Suzanne has since gone on to train in Aerial Yoga, Aerial Suspension Fitness, Restorative low Flow Aerial and Aerial Pilates with Antigravity Fitness. In 2012, Suzanne also trained in BarreConcept with Emma Newham of Pilates Union Uk. Suzanne is passionate about movement, making her classes fun and accessible for all!
